The Tie That Bonds Chapter 5 Sitting up, Heero looked around the room, wondering what had waken him, but everything was silent aside from the rain pounding against the window and Amelia's soft breathing. Without really thinking, he looked next to him where Trowa should have been sleeping. . .but it was only eleven. Sensing his uneasiness, Sheba jumped onto the bed and laid next to him. He slowly petted the Doberman, as he tried to remember what he had been dreaming about; however the visions were long gone from the instant he opened his eyes. Continuing to pet the dog, he laid back down and attempted to fall asleep. . .however, it proved easier said than done. He wasn't sure why, but he couldn't sleep. It was as if he was waiting for something to occur; though he didn't know what. All at once, he wondered if something had happened to Trowa. It was possible that whoever was after the kid might try to take out the guardians for a better chance. He tried to push the thought away. Trowa would be able to take care of himself if he were attacked; that Heero was sure of. . .but the fear still lingered. Wishing to kill his fear, he picked up the phone and dialed Trowa's work number. It was answered on the fourth ring by one of the new employees. All Heero said was the name of his lover and he was placed on hold. Five minutes later, the new guy picked up again and asked who was calling. It was the first time anyone had done that. Usually they just handed the phone over to Trowa and that was it. Instead of arguing, Heero informed the other party who he was and a couple of minutes later, Trowa answered. "Something wrong?" Trowa questioned quickly. "No, I was just making sure you were okay." He could hear the noise in the back ground. They were definitely busy. "I'm fine. We're just a little hectic right now." "Because of the rain?" "No. Someone called off, and one of the guys just walked out." Heero could hear the guy who answered the phone asking Trowa what to do. It sounded as if he had broken something as a loud crash drown out the background for a second. "I'll let you go. Sounds like you got your hands full there." "I'll probably be a little late tonight." "All right." With that, they hung up at the same time and silence once again reign in the dark room. Now that he was assured that Trowa was okay, he figured he could go back to sleep. . .but there was still something bothering him. Now he was hungry. Lightly pushing Sheba from him, he climbed out of bed. The dog started to follow him, but he stopped her with a look, and pointed toward the crib. "Guard." Sheba sat in front of the crib as Heero started to leave the room. Tonight was probably the most Amelia had slept. Usually she woke up every two hours, crying. This time, she had been asleep since eight. Thinking of this, he stood over the crib and looked down at the child. She appeared to be sleeping peacefully, and just fine. Shrugging, he left and headed to the kitchen. He checked the refrigerator and cursed Duo for coming over earlier. The American, like usual, had come with his appetite. Heero told him that he could help himself, but he didn't mean for the braided boy to eat everything. Settling for a sandwich, he quickly made it and then started back for the room. Though he didn't usually eat in the bed room, he didn't want to leave Amelia alone for too long. Just as he walked into the living room, the door bell rang. Sitting his food on the table, he walked over to the door and peeked through the lookout. His tension worsen as he seen Catherine standing on the porch. Baffled, he opened the door. The circus star smiled brightly, and Heero noticed her arm in a sling. "Heero. It's good to see you again." She happily greeted and hugged her near brother-in-law with her good arm. "I was afraid that I came too late. . ." She picked up her single bag, walked into the house and looked around. "Where's Trowa?" She asked, then looked back at Heero. "He's working." "Oh. That's too bad." "What's going on Catherine?" "Well, during a performance, I broke my arm. I'm pretty much useless at the circus, so Manager allowed me time off. Since I haven't seen you two in a while, I've decided to come visit." "Are you staying at a hotel?" Catherine laughed and shook her head. "All the hotels are booked for some reason. Looks like I'll be staying in a cheap motel, if I can find one. Unless you guys are willing to put me up for a few weeks." "How many?" "Six. . .but I don't want to impose. I just wanted to stop by and let you know that I was in town. I'm sure you have to talk to Trowa about me staying. Though I wouldn't see why he would want his only sister staying at an unsafe motel when he has a extra guest room." Heero felt a little uncomfortable. It was bad enough that Amelia had stopped by unannounced, now Catherine. Heero already knew how Trowa felt about her staying. . .but if Trowa were here, he'd probably cave any ways. At that moment, Amelia woke and began crying. Catherine's eyes widen in surprise as she stared at Heero. "You're baby sitting?!?" "Not exactly." "Then you adopted? Oh, I have to see my foster niece or nephew." Before he could say any more, Catherine dropped her bag and ran upstairs. Heero followed her, knowing that if he didn't cease Sheba, she would attack Catherine without knowing who she was. As he entered the room, he heard the low menacing growl from the dog. "Sheba, at ease." The growling stopped as the Doberman sat down and looked from Heero to Catherine. "I know you did not leave this dog to watch the baby Heero. That's irresponsible. A dog can't take care of a child." The older sister scorned and walked over to the crib. Part of the Japanese boy wanted to prove to Catherine that she was wrong. . .but Trowa wouldn't forgive him. . .maybe later in the week when she manages to get on Trowa's nerves. "Oh, what a sweet baby." She cooed as she picked up the child. "Look how adorable. What's your name little one?" "It's Amelia." "You got a girl? Girls are going to be a lot tougher for you to raise Heero. You should have adopted a boy. Then you can be just as rough as you want with it." She glared at Heero, then looked back at the baby. "I'm so sorry for you." She whispered to the kid. "You don't think Trowa and I are capable of taking care of a girl?" "Trowa. . .maybe. You. . .definitely not. If you raise this kid, she'd probably have some serious issues." Heero narrowed his eyes at Catherine. It wasn't so much the insults that was getting to him, but the fact that he was being told that he couldn't do something. "Human babies are a lot different from dogs Heero." The crying grew as Amelia started reaching for Heero. "He-he." She cried loudly. "Heh, heh. Heero raising you. Yes, that is a funny thought." Catherine agreed with the baby and bounced her. "Ssshhhh. There. There. It's okay." She soothed, but the crying became louder.
"Upstairs, sleeping." Heero said slowly as Trowa removed his jacket and hung it in the closet. "Trowa. . . ." The Japanese boy didn't get a chance to finish as his Latin boyfriend straddled him and began kissing passionately. At first, Heero tried to resist, but the kisses were making it a little tough. It was clear that right now, Trowa was determined to have sex. "Trowa. . ." Heero breathed. "Just shut up and fuck me before the kid wakes up." With that, the taller boy laid back on the couch, pulling his lover ontop of him. His lips wasted no time as he recaptured Heero's. At the same instant, the front of the Japanese boy's jeans were being brutally stripped. "Trowa, you're home." Catherine called as she bounced down the stairs. She stopped half way as she noticed her little brother's hand down the front of Heero's jeans. The passion died in those three simple words. Trowa pulled from his partner, his green eyes widen in a mixture of disbelief and confusion. "Am I interrupting?" "That's what I tried to tell you." Heero whispered in apology. "Did you call her?" He asked in a low voice. "No." Heero sat back and fixed his pants. "I didn't mean to barge in on you guys." She stated, still standing on the stairs. "I'll just go back. . ." "The mood's gone." Trowa muttered as he sat up and glared at Heero, silently promising to get even. He looked over at his sister and asked about the sling. As she explained, he found himself wishing that he had stayed at work. "Why didn't you tell me you had a child Trowa?" Catherine wondered as she plopped into the chair and studied the Latin. "You were on a different Colony." "Well, I think it's great that you have a kid now. Maybe it'll soften up the emotional Grinch here a bit." Trowa looked back at Heero, wondering just how much was told to his sister. "How many times do I have to tell you that we're not keeping her?" Heero barked, clearly annoyed at Catherine's prying. "Come on Heero. I know you're not that foolish. That kid's mother isn't coming back. . .and if Amelia is as important as you say, then the mother is probably already dead. Face it, she's yours now." Colbat met emerald. In truth neither of them had stopped to consider the ideal of the real parents being dead. As if knowing what was being said, the baby started crying. Seizing the perfect time to leave the room, Heero jumped to his feet and headed upstairs. After all, Catherine was Trowa's sister. . .not his. So what reason did he have to listen to her endless whining? Trowa rubbed his sleep dreary eyes and stood. "Where are you going?" "I haven't slept in two days." "You don't mind if I stay until my arm heals, do you? If it's going to cause problems. . ." "No, it's fine." He assured, figuring that if Heero really hated the ideal, he would have kicked her out of the house by now. "I'll see you later." Trowa stated and headed for the stairs. Catherine stood and grabbed her brother's arm. "Trowa, do you think it's such a good ideal having Heero try and help with the baby?" Trowa pulled his arm free and studied the concerned violet eyes. "I mean, he's not exactly fatherly material." "I guess you don't think I can either." "I know you'll be a lot better than him." "Cathy." "You guys have been together for two years now, and he's still like a stone wall. Children need emotional comfort and support. Besides, when I came over, he had the dog watching Amelia. That's not a good thing Trowa." "First off, Sheba is a watch dog. She's already protected Amelia once before. Secondly you don't know a damn thing about Heero. There's a side of him that you don't see, and I refuse to resort to having to defend him in our house." "Trowa, I didn't mean. . ." "Cathy, I'm not going to listen to you bash him. The first insult I hear, I will ask you to leave. We have enough problems as it is without you adding." "Tro-" "Goodnight. . .Catherine." With that, he ascended the stairs in silence. Heero was changing diapers when Trowa entered the room. Sheba was laying in her pet bed, watching her two masters intently. "Look, if you don't want her to stay. . ." "No. I'm sure it'll be fine. We could probably use her help, but if she says or does anything out of the way to you, she's gone." Heero gawked at Trowa in surprise. He knew that ever since the self destruct incident, Catherine has had it in for Heero; which was why her visits were few and far between. Trowa was still getting use to the ideal of having living relatives after spending a lifetime alone, but Heero never expected anything like that to sprout from his lips. Silence filled the room as Trowa removed his shirt, dropped it on the floor and toed off his shoes. Pulling back the blankets, he climbed between the sheets on his stomach, and half covered himself. One thing was for sure, he had to be tired. Heero had never seen him so wrecked before. It was odd that only a few moments ago, he was raring to have sex; now, he didn't look as if he could last through it. After changing, Heero placed the baby back in her crib. Surprisingly, she was quiet, and there was no sense in not taking advantage of that quiet time. He crawled up his boyfriend's body, stopping at the waist to remove the covers and kissed the bare back. Trowa could feel the tension lift every time Heero's lips touched his flesh. As the kisses came to his neck, he could feel the hard on rubbing against his backside. "Heero. . ." "It's not a seduction." The Japanese boy straddled his lover. "It's a relaxation." With that, he began massaging the tense back and shoulders the way Trowa had done for him so many times before. "You could have warned me that Catherine "I tried, but you attacked me." "You're stronger than I am. . .you could have stopped me." "I was enjoying it too much." Trowa closed his eyes and focused on the massaging hands. He was surprised that Amelia was remaining calm. Once the tension was gone, the kisses returned, but Trowa had fallen asleep. Heero scoffed at the fact before laying next to the Latin and turning off the light. _________________
